Zoraida Morrison: Seeking feedback on amazon.com
Hello everyone,
I am interested in hearing about experiences in using amazon.com with screen readers. Is amazon.com accessible with screen readers? Is amazon.com an easy to navigate website, or is it complicated? Replies to my questions and any other useful information will be appreciated, thank you in advance.

I get daily emails all the time from Amazon on the computer.
I do how ever do my ordering etc on the I phone though.
That is easier for me.

Thank you for replying, Connie, your answer is of help to me. I do not have an iPhone, or any other Apple products for that matter, I should have specified in my original post that I am seeking feedback concerning using amazon.com on a Windows PC.

Zoraida: I regularly use the Amazon web site with NVDA and Chrome. System Access did work the last time I tried it though.

Richard, thanks for your feedback. That is very encouraging for me precisely because I regularly use NVDA and Chrome as my browser.

I've never used amazon.com with System Access, but I have used it with NVDA. It works okay, but I don't think it's as intuitive with screen readers as the iPhone app. But since System Access worked so well for me with Chat GPT the other day, the Amazon site might be worth a try with System Access.

Beth, is the link you posted the link to the general website the public at large uses to do their purchases, or is this a link to a specific page within the amazon website? Please clarify. Also, you say that you have played with the amazon website, but you did not say wether it was accessible to you using screen reader technology, or if it was an easy to navigate website, can you also write about that? Thanks.

I use SA with the Amazon site I sent, it is an uncluttered version of the regular site. Beth

I use Amazon a lot using Jaws and Microsoft Edge, it works sort of, sometimes I find myself where I did not wish to go and Amazon should do a better job of picture dscriptions, more than once I have gotten something that was not exactly what I thought I was getting, especialy in clothing or shoes.
That said, I order shampoo, conditioner, etc. from there, as well as other products that are standard off-the-shelf items one would find in the drug store I cannot physically get to and 98% of the time I get what I want. Once I ended up with a large bottle of bath soap with its lid unscrewed in the package what a mess but I got my money back.
I sometimes find that finding what I want is a weird search, but I am able to negotiate the site reasonably well on my own, not that I love some of the recent changes with the items that appear at the top of the screen and like to hang me someplac I never planned to go.
