Sebby: Sort Threads by Last Post

I suspect the answer is not, but just in case I missed it, is there any way to sort threads by the last post date? It seems somewhat counterintuitive, to me at least, that threads are sorted by their first post date.

Sebby, when you are subscribed to a forum whenever you go to that forum if there are any new messages since the last time you were there then it gives you the time and date in which it was posted.

Thanks, yes, I know and that's useful, but if I've already looked through the new messages there's still no way to find the corresponding thread just by browsing. So a thread that contains a recent post can still get buried and be difficult to find.

something that I do is when I go to a new form, I always go to browse threads and do it that way.

If you browse a thread, you see a list of threads ordered by when they were started. So if someone starts a new thread yesterday, but there’s a post in a previous thread that was made today, you will see yesterday’s thread on top, and today’s thread underneath it.

I’m saying that I think this is mistaken. Really, the thread with today’s post should be on top, and yesterday’s thread, with no replies, should be beneath it. This is how you normally expect things to work in other cases, such as in email.

Where do you start watching a program, or reading a book? Unlike most people I know, I don't mind knowing the outcome, but if I'm personally going to take the time to experience it, I will start at the beginning!
