Beth Kats: problem with internet

I am trying to get online for Amazon and MaxiAids. NVDA would not talk after I got in to Amazon and MaxiAids when I searched for something, it went off the website and went back to asking, "Type the URL." Sero just wouldn't go on the internet period. It would say research and reference google. I enter it, but it did nothing. What could I do? Thanks in Advance.

Using NVDA, Google Chrome as my browser, I went to maxiaids.com and did not reproduce the problem described here. Here are the steps I took:
I opened the Google Chrome browser and pressed Control T to open the edit field in order to type the name of a website, and I typed maxiaids.com.
Maxiaids.com opened, and I made sure I was at the top of the page with Control Home. Then I pressed the letter E to land on the search edit field. Since my NVDA is a bit quirky, I tabbed once to move away from the edit field, and then did Shift Tab to go back to the edit field in order to type a search term. I typed the search term, tabbed to the Search button and pressed Enter. I got a results page, so things worked for me.
Perhaps, when you go to the desired website using NVDA, you may need to press Tab to move away from the edit field, then press ShiftTab to go back to the edit field in order to bring NVDA into focus. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I will try that. Don't know why it did not work, but my computer is getting old which could have contributed to it. Thanks again!

Just a couple of tips for NVDA users related to edit fields and other form controls on web pages:

1. Rather than using Tab and Shift+Tab to get forms or focus mode, just press NVDA key+Space to jump into Focus mode, and press Escape to exit.
2. If you want Focus mode to activate autiomatically when you land on a form control, access the NVDA Browser settings by pressing NVDA key+B and check the box for "Automatic focus mode for focus changes", followed by the Enter key. Focus mode should switch on and off as you tab into and out of form controls.
