This is a teachable moment. Connie's problem turned out to be with the mouse. How could that be? System Access and NVDA particularly are sensitive to mouse movement. If the mouse is easily moved because you do not have a good mouse pad, or your desk surface is not stable, you will hear extraneous speaking. Flip your mouse on its back or stabilize it where it does not move easily and most speech problems will be solved.

I am very thankful I have no need whatsoever for the mouse, so there is none connected to my PC.
