Christine C: Pneuma Solutions Blog Question
Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if there was a way to subscribe to the Pneuma Solutions Blog and receive the posts in your email. I am subscribed to the Freedom Scientific blog, so I am receiving the posts in my email. Just wondering if the Pneuma Solutions Blog works the same way.
Thanks!
Christine

Christine: I just checked and the Blog is not available as an Email subscription, though many other topics are.
https://pneumasolutions.com/subscribe/
These include:
1. General Marketing
2. Scribe for Meetings (B2B, B2C, EDU)
3. Scribe (B2B)
4. RIM – Remote Incident Manager (B2B)
5. DocuScan Plus (B2C)
6. Sero (B2C)
7. Accessible Event (B2C)
8. Scribe for Education (EDU)
9. . K-12 Program (EDU)
Maybe we will see the blog included also as an Email subscription soon for those like you who would like this option.

All the posts are in their RSS feed, so what you want is an RSS-to-email service. Two good ones are Feedrabbit (free plan available, quick and easy) and Feedmail (prepaid credit system, more advanced and scalable, with a free starter of 400 credits, which will last for ages if you just subscribe to Pneuma Solutions because it updates very infrequently). So pick one of those, sign up, and route your chosen sites to your email. Feedrabbit is probably the best choice for what you want in the here and now.

RSS Feeds may also be added in the My Newspaper section of the Sero App.

In Sero's My Newspaper, you should be able to make an RSS feed like this:
https://pneumasolutions.com/blog/feed/
But for some reason, this doesn't work. I do not know if this is a problem with My Newspaper or with the way Pneuma Solutions implements it on the blog. The strange thing is, when I type this address into Chrome, I get XML as I should.

I briefly tried out the My Newspaper feature, but it's always been somewhere between slightly broken and inconsistent to totally useless, so I gave up. I can't use it without working RSS feed support.
And, anyway, getting news by email, either as individual stories or as a digest, is already very familiar if you know how to filter your email for mailing lists. I use lire for heavy-duty feed-reading, but email is definitely comfy too.

Sebby: I completely agree with you on the My Newspaper and consistency of RSS feeds. I wrote a forum post on this earlier today, illustrating the problem. If this is fixed, users will be able to create content based on their interests that would benefit the entire Sero community, as this can be shared publicly.

Unfortunately this seems to have become a casualty of bit rot. It'd be great if it were properly renovated, but I suspect that Sero being in maintenance mode means that it's not going to get the love. Quite a bit has changed since the mid-2000s, too, with regard to RSS technology, although it's certainly not impossible. It just depends on whether anyone else really cares.
