Cheng: Re: Face ID on new iPhone 16 E
Hi Abby. You would want to make sure VoiceOver will require you to look at the phone to be unlock so you can use it for security purposes. To do this, you can go to Face ID and Passcode and turn on "Require attention for Face ID". Make sure you turn off "Attention aware features" as it will turn down your notifications or alerts and you might miss them. Turning it off will prevent the phone from turning down the volume for these notifications and alerts. Once this is done, you should be able to use it like you did before. Some phone cases might expand from the top edge of the phone to the camera or Face ID sensor so make sure your phone case don't block the sensors. Other than these tips, you will be able to get Face ID to work as normal. Face ID won't work properly if you use it in darker areas. I used it with my old iPhone 12 Pro Max and my new iPhone 16 Pro Max and didn't have any issues. If you feel that Face ID does not work properly then you will have to set it up again. That's what I do when my phone is having trouble with Face ID recognizing my face. Another thing to know is if you have an iPad that use Face ID then these tips will be apply to the iPad as well. Hope this help.

Thanks. Actually, I was told to turn Attention Aware off, since I have trouble making eye contact with the phone. I'm doing much better now with Face ID than I was before, though I sometimes have to enter the passcode. I appreciate your help, though.

Yes, I turned off attention aware feature too. I just turn on require attention for Face ID to make the phone more secure.
