Popular vs. true
Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. – Matthew 6:1
Are you chasing what’s popular or what’s true?
We live in a time where popular shouts the loudest. It trends. It sells. It influences. We follow it, repost it, fund it—often without stopping to ask: Is it true?
Popular doesn't always equal true, and in our rush to keep up with what’s trending, we can lose our ability to discern what’s real and lasting.
But the problem with popularity is that it’s fleeting. It shifts with culture and opinions. What’s popular today may be canceled tomorrow. But truth? Truth is unchanging and always stands firm.
So how do we know the difference? The only way to tell the difference between what’s trending and what’s true is to open God’s Word. When we measure what’s popular against what’s true, we start to see clearly again. And we remember: Jesus never aimed to be popular. He didn’t build His kingdom through trends or approval ratings. He simply spoke the truth—even when it offended. Even when it cost Him the crowd.
Crowds came and went, opinions shifted, but the truth He spoke still changes lives today.
So here’s the question: Are you following the trends or the truth? Only one of them leads to life that lasts.
