How to Have a Satisfied Heart
Love Worth Finding
TODAY'S DAILY DEVOTIONAL
August 13, 2025
“There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, ‘Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.’”
JOHN 3:1-2
PONDER THIS
There’s something in people that will never be satisfied until they are born again. Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews, came to Jesus by night. There was a void, an emptiness in his heart. He had to talk to Jesus. He had seen Jesus do miracles, and there was a hunger in his heart, a dissatisfaction. So, he came to Jesus by night.
He addressed Jesus as Rabbi, meaning master or teacher. He said, “No one can do these miracles except God” (author’s paraphrase). Jesus answered in effect, “Nicodemus, if you want to understand miracles, you’re going to have to become a miracle. You must be born again.”
Man has a longing in his heart that will never be satisfied without the new birth. No matter how much money you have, how much pleasure you enjoy, or how much fame is spread concerning you, if you are not born again, a part of you is missing and will never be satisfied. That satisfaction is impossible apart from the new birth.
Do you feel satisfied with your life? Why or why not?
Where have you turned in search of satisfaction? What have you learned along the way about yourself and about God?
PRACTICE THIS
Think about the areas in which you do not feel satisfied in your life. Invite God to satisfy your desires in Him.
