Starving
He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. – Deuteronomy 8:3
Some days I feel like I’m starving. Do you ever feel that way?
Well, truth be told, I always feel like starving, but some days my hunger pangs feel worse. And I’m not just talking physically. More often than I care to admit it, my life feels like seasons of famine. And each time I feel the hunger pangs for “something more,” I have to remind myself of this: God’s provision doesn’t always mean I’ll avoid famine, but it does mean He will sustain me through it.
Think about it—if you’re longing for intimacy, God may not promise a human relationship to satisfy that ache. But He does promise His presence, His nearness, and His love that never fails.
If you’re hungry for fruitfulness, God may not instantly make you more “productive” or “successful” in the way the world measures it. But He does promise to give you the strength, endurance, and faith to press on through seasons that feel barren.
God fed the Israelites in the desert for forty years, not once did He fail them. He brought them through to the promised land, just as He said He would.
And if He could lead His people through decades of wilderness, sustaining them every step of the way, He will surely give you what you need to make it through today.
