A Perfect Fit
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”…Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.”
Luke 5:8, 10, NIV
When the rough fisherman Peter first realized who Jesus was, it exposed his heart as unworthy of Jesus’ presence. But only moments later, Jesus called Peter to become one of His fishers for people. Jesus could have chosen someone more talented, more educated, more refined, and with a religious background. He could have found someone from a more influential family, with a lot fewer weaknesses and less baggage. But on purpose He chose Peter. Although Jesus knew all the mistakes Peter would make, He knew that Peter was a perfect fit to become the apostle who would take the lead in the early church.
Don’t go your whole life thinking you don’t measure up, you don’t perform good enough, you’re not talented enough. You’ve been handpicked by the Creator of the universe. In spite of all the negatives you think about yourself, He calls you a masterpiece, one of a kind, fearfully and wonderfully made. Quit beating yourself up, thinking you don’t qualify. The fact that He chose you means He’s already equipped you, empowered you, and anointed you. Step into your greatness.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that You see world changers in rugged fishermen like Peter. Thank You that You’re working in my life just as You did in Peter, and You will bring me to completion. I am looking beyond my flaws and failures to see the masterpiece in the making. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
