Take time to remember
Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced. – 1 Chronicles 16:12
Victories and failures—we’ve all had both. But if you’re like me, it’s much easier to recall the failures.
We can list our disappointments without hesitation: the job we didn’t get, the relationship that fell apart, the prayer that still feels unanswered. But ask us to name our victories, and suddenly we have to stop and think.
God knows how forgetful we are when it comes to His faithfulness. That’s why throughout Scripture, He constantly calls His people to remember.
He told the Israelites to build altars of remembrance so they would never forget how He parted the Red Sea, provided manna in the wilderness, or delivered them from their enemies. Each stone was a testimony to His goodness and power. And in the New Testament, Jesus gave us the Lord’s Supper, inviting us to remember His sacrifice and celebrate His victory again and again.
When we take time to remember what God has done, something shifts inside us. Gratitude replaces discouragement. Hope begins to rise again. So while it might be easier to remember our disappointments, it’s life giving to rejoice in our victories.
Today, take time to remember. Think about the times God came through for you—the prayers He answered, the doors He opened, the strength He gave when you thought you couldn’t go on. Write them down and thank Him. Each one is proof that the God who was faithful before will be faithful again.
