Dealing with rejection
Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me. – Psalm 27:10
Have you ever felt the sting of rejection? I know I have.
I’ve told you my story a hundred times, but in case you haven’t heard it—I’ve been engaged twice but never married. So yes, I know rejection up close. And it stings deeply. But over the years, here’s what I’ve learned: we must never confuse rejection by people with rejection by God.
Any time we face rejection, whether in relationships, at work, or in ministry, it hurts because we all long to be seen, wanted, and loved. But if we’re not careful, we start believing the lie that rejection means failure, or worse, that it means God has turned away from us. Yet nothing could be further from the truth.
God is always for us, even when we experience the deepest rejections by men. He works through those painful seasons to redirect us, to refine our hearts, to free us from people pleasing and people’s approval, and remind us that our true validation comes from Him alone.
So yes, rejection hurts but it’s never the end of the story. God will never walk away, His love for you is steadfast, and He can use even rejection to draw us closer to himself.
