Matthew 16:24 (NKJV) 24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
This verse sounds painful.
But, it is for our own good and for the good of others. And if we follow it, it really doesn't hurt at all!
How do we deny ourselves, and take up His cross and follow after Him?
We stop thinking about ourselves; what we will eat, drink, wear and obtain. Get our needs and wants off our mind by putting our concerns to rest at His feet.
Instead of us spending time demanding from Him what we want or need, let Him bring provision to us as we go about doing His business and trusting Him with ours.
This denying of ourselves is crucial to our walk with Him.
Reaching a point where our needs aren't as important to us as His desires is a sign that we are maturing as His child.
When we get to this point in our walk, we give Him much freedom to move in our lives. He will put open doors in front of us and closed doors behind us.
Let's learn to deny ourselves more, and we will find Him doing things through us like we have never seen before.
We will walk on the water with Him!
