Galatians 5:16 (NKJV) 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
We need to understand the importance of following or walking in the Spirit vs letting our flesh lead us.
Our flesh focuses on our selfish desires and passions; it wants what it wants.
The flesh will do the opposite of what God wants. It conflicts with our spirit, which is open to God.
We wonder why as believers we are fighting every day to stay close to Him. It’s our own flesh that keeps us at war.
We can have all the church lingo we want, but what it comes down to is keeping our flesh from fulfilling its lust. Church lingo doesn’t help stop those desires. Only God’s deliverance can stop our lusting.
It’s a battle in every believer; you are not alone today. We are all battling our fleshly desires.
The only way we can overcome them is if we walk in the Spirit.
Walking in the Spirit of God means we yield, surrender or submit to His control and follow His lead.
It is normal for our flesh to be uncomfortable when we begin to do this. It’s not easy, and we need help.
Jesus did not leave us to do this on our own. He sent us a Helper; the Holy Spirit.
John 14:16 (NKJV) 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
Let the Holy Spirit help us to overcome our fleshly desires today and walk in the Spirit on an everyday basis.
