Dream Stealers
Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: “Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono.” But they were scheming to harm me.
Nehemiah 6:2, NIV
God put it in the heart of Nehemiah to rebuild the broken-down walls of Jerusalem, but from the start he faced two main enemies who tried to frighten him into stopping. Before Nehemiah had finished the work by setting the gate doors back in place, they invited him to the plains of Ono, intending to kill him. It’s interesting that these critics were trying to stop him and his dream in a place called Ono. It’s no different today. There will be people who try to get you to come to Ono. “Oh no, you won’t get well.” “Oh no, you won’t meet the right person.” “Oh no, you can’t accomplish your dream.” Stay out of Ono. You don’t belong there. All you’re going to find in Ono is doubt, discouragement, “you can’t do it,” and “it’s never going to happen.” I’ll make it real simple: Ono is a no-no.
“Oh no” people are dream stealers. Do yourself a favor and say goodbye to the “oh no” people and find some “yes” people who say “amen” and believe what God put in your heart.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for making it clear that I need to be careful about the people I’m allowing to speak into my life. Help me to find some faith partners with whom I should connect and help me to stay away from others who would get me off course. I want people in my life with whom I can join my faith. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
