God Is Able to Supply Every Need
But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Philippians 4:18–20
While imprisoned in the Ravensbrück concentration camp during World War II, Corrie ten Boom and her sister Betsie had in their possession a small bottle of liquid vitamins. Betsie was weak and sick, and Corrie believed they should save the vitamins just for her. But Betsie insisted that they share them with the other sick and starving women around them.
Each day, Corrie carefully poured out just a few drops for the prisoners who needed them most. Each day she worried as the bottle seemed nearly empty. Yet somehow, when she poured out what should have been the last drop, another would follow. And then another. Corrie later testified that God sustained it beyond what they could explain, supplying just enough until further provision arrived.
This experience reminded the ten Boom sisters of the 1 Kings 17 account of Elijah and the widow of Zarephath. With famine devastating the land, she had only enough meal and oil for one final meal before she and her son would die. Yet when she obeyed God and trusted His word by making a meal for Elijah, the Lord sustained her through the rest of the famine. Miraculously, “the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail.” God supplied her need day after day, not only for herself, but so she could care for His servant as well.
God is not limited by what we see, what we possess, or what we lack. When we give in faith, serve in faith, and share what He has entrusted to us, we can be confident of this: God is able to supply every need—both ours and the needs of those He calls us to help.
God provides for our needs, and He supplies us so we can become channels of His provision to others.
