Don’t Take the Bait
The woman was convinced. How lovely and fresh looking it was! And it would make her so wise! So she ate some of the fruit and gave some to her husband, and he ate it too.

Contrary to what God had said, the enemy promised Eve that she and Adam wouldn’t die if they ate of the tree of good and evil, but rather they would become like God. By letting the enemy’s lies take root in her thinking, by dwelling on them, she gave the enemy permission to come in and deceive her. Eve became convinced she could have it all. But all she and Adam got was shame, fear, strife, and separation from God’s presence.
The fruit of temptation always looks so good. “It’s okay to party with them.” “It’s just a little lie.” “Go ahead and gossip about her.” “Nobody knows what you’re watching.” “It will feel great to tell them off. Just do it.” It’s not what it looks like. Don’t take the bait. Don’t let the enemy get in your head and deceive you. That’s the battlefield. You have to dig your heels in and say, “No, I’m not going where this is leading. I won’t live guilty, condemned, and feeling broken. I’m living in the joy and freedom that God gives.”
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for the promise of a way of escape to any temptation I face. Thank You that You have exposed the lies and deceptions of the enemy in Your Word. Help me guard my mind and heart, to dwell on Your thoughts, and to be strong to resist temptation and compromise. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
