The Helper is with you
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth. – John 14:16
Sooner or later, we all experience loneliness.
You can feel lonely in a crowded room, in a busy home, or even surrounded by people who love you. Loneliness isn't always about being physically alone. Sometimes it's the quiet ache of wondering whether anyone truly understands you.
Jesus knew His disciples would face those moments.
That's why, before going to the cross, He made them a remarkable promise. He told them He would ask the Father to send another Helper, the Holy Spirit, who would be with them forever.
Think about that.
Jesus didn't leave His followers to figure out life on their own. He gave them His own presence through the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is our Comforter when our hearts are heavy, our Counselor when we don't know what to do, our Strength when we feel weak, and our constant Companion wherever we go.
You may not always feel His presence, but His presence doesn't depend on your feelings. If you belong to Christ, He is with you. He has never left you, and He never will.
So the next time loneliness creeps in, remember this truth: you are not facing life by yourself.
The Helper is with you.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me become more aware of your presence, guidance, comfort, and strength each day. Amen.
Reflect: When do you feel most alone? Where do you need the most help? What would it look like to live with a greater awareness that God is always with you?
