Fact-Check
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:31–32, NIV
We hear a lot about fact-checking today. We fact-check what a politician said, fact-check the claims of an ad or product label, fact-check internet rumors that have gone viral. You need to fact-check the thoughts that come into your mind against the truth of God’s Word. Compare thoughts such as “You’re not valuable. You’re not attractive” to what God says: “You are a masterpiece. You are made in the image of God.” Thoughts whisper, “You’ve failed too many times. Nothing good is in your future. Just accept it.” You have to fact-check that. “The path of the righteous gets brighter and brighter. God is taking me from glory to glory. I haven’t seen, heard, or imagined what He has in store.” Dismiss the lies and embrace the truth.
The truth on its own won’t make you free. It’s the truth you know that will make you free and keep you free. When the enemy tries to plant thoughts of doubt, fear, or compromise, defeat them with the truth found in God’s Word. Answer the lies with what God says and speak them in faith.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that when Jesus conquered death on the cross, He broke the power of every lie and deception that’s trying to hold me back. Thank You that any stronghold of the enemy is brought down by the power of Your truth. I believe that I am unquestionably free. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
