Tisha: Regarding SERO On IOS or MAC

Hi, I am curious about something. Is there a major difference between, SystemAccess, SERO and SERO To Go… Just looking for a little clarification. I have 2 Windows11 laptops both running NVDA and Jaws. My MAC AIR is just dealing with Voiceover. But, I didn’t realize that this service can be used on a MAC as well. That sounds pretty cool. Again, just keeping my options open.

System Access is the screen reader that runs on Windows. System Access to Go is now defunct; don't worry about it. It was essentially a cut-down System Access, available for free and intended to help you use a public computer. Sero is the web-based service you're using right now to read this message, and can be accessed from a number of devices, with the Sero support in System Access on Windows, or from the standalone apps on macOS or iOS, on the web at secure.samobile.net , or even the Alexa skill. Choose the Help link on the home page, then Sero, for details.

From what you're saying, I'd keep the subscription you have now, and try installing the Sero app from the Mac App Store or iOS App Store and logging in on the Mac or iOS. You will find the experience to be pretty good, although audio playback could be better. The text-based stuff all works, except that they expect you to use the iOS or macOS Mail app to handle your email rather than using the web interface. This is unfortunate, IMO, because it isn't strictly necessary and makes setting up the account a requirement when it should be optional. But still, it's supported.

Regarding email, the same is true for Sero on all mobile devices, not just IOS.

Tisha: Sero on the Mac is content, voice chat and Forums. Email has to be configured separately.

Here is an article from the Sero "Help" files. Beth

You can manage your mail on the web as well, and compose plain text. This is not as rich as the Windows client, but it's better than nothing. Just log in using Safari at secure.samobile.net and choose the email link. Or get there directly:

This is also the menu where you set your email password. This should really be under your account, but whatever. You must set this password before you can use your email client in Apple Mail or elsewhere.
