Preferences

DocuScan Plus offers a variety of preferences you can adjust. To do this, press the "Preferences" button in the main DocuScan Plus window. DocuScan Plus will then show a window with a button for each category of preferences you can set.

On Windows, each Preferences sub-section has an OK button, a Cancel button, and a Reset button, and preferences aren't saved until you press the OK button. On the Mac, as is typical for Mac applications, all changes to preferences take effect immediately. However, there is still a Reset button that you can use to reset each subsection of preferences back to its defaults.

General Preferences (Windows only)

Note that this section is not available when using NVDA.

The rest of the preferences in this section are only available when using DocuScan Plus in conjunction with System Access or in self-voicing mode.

Scanning Preferences

Text-to-Speech Preferences

On Windows, if you're running DocuScan Plus in conjunction with System Access or in self-voicing mode, these preferences will affect the speech you hear throughout the program. If you're using DocuScan Plus via another Windows screen reader or on the Mac, these preferences will only affect conversion of documents to DAISY or MP3.

Screen Magnification Preferences (Windows only)

This section is only available if you're using DocuScan Plus in conjunction with System Access or in self-voicing mode. Note that if you're using a third-party screen magnifier like ZoomText or MAGic, you should not enable magnification in this section, even if you're using DocuScan Plus's text-to-speech output. If you just want larger print within documents themselves, refer to "Font and Color Preferences" below.

Braille Preferences

On Windows, if you're running DocuScan Plus in conjunction with System Access or in self-voicing mode, these preferences will affect the behavior when a supported braille display is connected to your computer. If you're using DocuScan Plus via another Windows screen reader or on the Mac, these preferences will only affect conversion of documents to braille (BRF).

Font and Color Preferences

These preferences control the font and colors to use when displaying a document on screen and when saving it as an RTF file.
