As a Sero member, you can easily create your own website. It can feature text, audio, and even pictures, and takes just minutes to create!
The first time that you choose the Personal Web Site option from the Sero home screen, Sero will present a form that will let you set some basic options for your website, then choose whether you want a text intro, a voice intro, or no intro. Simply adjust the settings as you see fit, press the Create button, then enter or record your intro.
After you create your website, and whenever you choose the Personal Web Site option from the Sero home screen in the future, Sero will present a screen that shows the address of your site, along with several options for managing it.
When choosing Edit Basic Settings, you will be presented with the following:
An edit box for your Web site title. Choose this carefully, as it should identify what your site will offer. It will also be saved as the default title for persons adding your Web site to their bookmarks.
A checkbox to include a link to your public bookmarks. If you select this checkbox, all bookmarks that you make public will be included on your website.
A Checkbox to include a link to your public news interests. Checking this box includes links to all news feeds you set up in your customized My Newspaper section of Sero. For more help with My Newspaper, please see the section titled: News your way.
A drop-down with three choices related to handling your Sero blog. Your choices are:
An edit box where you can enter a footer for your home page. This is text that will be displayed at the bottom of the page. This text can contain HTML tags so you can add a link to send you email, a "callto" link to received voice and video calls via Skype, as well as links to other websites.
Once you have made all appropriate changes, activate the Save Changes button to apply your settings.
The next option allows you to create an introduction if setting up for the first time, or replace your existing introduction.
You can choose to create a text introduction, and type in what you want to say on your website. This can include HTML tags for linking to email addresses, other websites, etc. Once you have finished entering your intro, activate the Save button.
Alternatively, you can record a voice introduction for your website, as follows:
Choose to create a voice introduction.
Activate the Record button. You will hear a beep to indicate that you should start speaking.
When done, activate the Stop button.
Activate the Play button to hear what you have recorded.
When you are satisfied, activate the Save button to add your customized voice message to your website.
After choosing this option, Tab to the Browse button, and use Windows standard navigation commands to find the photo you want to use.
After you have chosen the file, Tab again to the Caption edit box and type in the text you want displayed when someone either reads your page with a screen reader or puts the mouse over the photo.
Then Tab once and press the Space bar on the Upload button to complete the process.
Choosing this option will place you in a list box of pictures you have already uploaded, along with the descriptive captions you have previously typed for each photo.
Other options include:
This is a great way to see how other fellow Sero members are creating and using their personal websites. Plus, it's a great way to find other informative and interesting pointers to some of the best links on the Internet.
